Our Guiding Principles

At Idea 11, we believe technology is a means to an end, not an end itself. With our experience in the technology field across a wide range of customers, we have developed a set of principles that ensure our customers receive excellent business-aligned solutions that fit their business requirements.

We've summarised our beliefs into the following guiding principles:

We are specialists - we know what we know, and know what we don't.

Too many IT companies claim they can do anything - and as a result they are mediocre at everything. At Idea 11, we know what we are good at, and stick to it. We don't do phone systems, SharePoint customisation, document management, and a multitude of other things. You can be confident that when you engage us for a project it is in an area that we have the ability to deliver.

We can give you a fixed cost.

We believe that as professionals in our field, we should be able to estimate accurately. Our projects are scoped accurately and can be done at a fixed cost, so there are no hidden surprises. On the other hand, if you'd prefer time and materials, we will do that too.

We guarantee the quality of our work.

If we make a mistake, we'll fix it without charging you extra for our services.

We over-communicate.

We think it's better to err on the side of over-communication, rather than keep mum if we find something that we should bring your attention to.

We work to fulfill a business need.

Technology for its own sake is great, but makes no sense in business. There must be some benefit to your business for any solution we propose.

We think change management is great, and always have a back-out plan.

We never put your critical infrastructure at risk. We want you to be aware of what is occurring before a change happens and what systems will be affected. Any change we make when implementing a solution always has a rollback plan to ensure there is no risk of data loss.

We seek to build agility into IT.

By reducing unnecessary process, IT can be more responsive to changing business needs. We think documentation, change management and testing are essential, and can be done well with our agile process. We seek to increase reliability and flexibility without sacrificing responsiveness.

We believe that unnecessary complexity is evil.

Technology is complex enough as it is. We seek to reduce system complexity while still delivering the business benefit of the solution. Over-engineering is the enemy of manageability.

We design solutions so that your IT department can look after them.

We want to keep you as a customer because we're good, not because you're stuck. We believe in full handover of our solutions to your internal IT department and we design them in a way so that you can look after them. On the other hand, if you want us to maintain your systems, we'll happily do that.
